Merkur Arena is a football stadium situated in Austria. It is located in Graz, and it is also known as Graz Stadium. The original name of the stadium is Liebenauer Stadium. The construction of the stadium started in 1995 and it was completed in 1997. It was known as Arnold Schwarzenegger Stadium at the time of planning and opening. It was renamed to UPC Arena after the new naming agreement in 2006 for the next 10 years. Merkur Insurance bought the naming rights of the ground for the next 10 years, and the stadium was renamed Merkur Arena in 2016.
Merkur Arena is the home ground of SK Sturm Graz and Graz Athletic Sports Club. Both teams participate in the football games, and this stadium is also popularly known by the names of the clubs during the games. 16604 is the stadium’s record attendance. The current capacity of the stadium for international games is 15323, and for domestic games it is 16364. Graz Stadium is owned by Stadion Liebenau Betriebs GmbH and managed by City of Graz.
