R. Premadasa Stadium is the largest cricket ground in Sri Lanka. It can accommodate 35000 visitors. It is the second international cricket ground situated in Colombo and it as hosted more than 150 ODI games till now. It is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular cricket stadiums for International and Domestic games. This Stadium has hosted many notable cricket matches, including games from the 1996, 2011 World Cup and the T20 World Cup.
R. Premadasa Stadium was established in 1986. It was owned and operated by the Sri Lankan cricket board. Khettarama Cricket Stadium was the previous name of the stadium, and it was changed to its current name in 1994. It is the venue for the games of the 2026 T20 cricket World Cup, along with two other cricket stadiums in Sri Lanka. It is the home stadium of Sri Lanka national cricket team.
The first international match at this ground was an ODI between Sri Lanka and New Zealand in 1986. The first test match at this Stadium was played between Sri Lanka and Australia in 1992. India and Sri Lanka in 2009 played the first T20 International match at the R. Premadasa Stadium. This stadium is also used by the women’s cricket team frequently. It is difficult to book R. Premadasa Stadium tickets during high-voltage cricket games.

RPS Stadium Entry Gates

All the stadium’s admission doors are shown on the seating layout. Gate no 5 is used for the D stand. Gate no 6 is used for C stand and Gate no 8 is for North stand. Gate no 7 can be used to enter the C stand and the North stand.
Gate no 1 is for corporate guests, and Gate no 2 is for the grandstand. Gate no 3 is for South stand and B stand. The stadium entry ticket lists the entry gate, seat number, row, section, and stand. Visitors can take the idea from the seating arrangement map.
Bag Policy and Security
Only small bags might be allowed, and essential items are allowed after proper checking. Visitors should only bring mobile phones and wallets while visiting R Premadasa Stadium for international games. Baby food might be allowed after checking. RPS Stadium Parking and How to Reach
It is located in a busy locality, and finding parking during international games is a challenging task. Visitors can park on nearby parking lots if they arrive early. Reaching here via public transport is the best option. Maradana Railway Station and Colombo Fort Railway Station are within a radius of 3 Kilometers. Using city bus and taxi is a wise decision during events.
Food and Refreshment
Multiple food outlets selling snacks, light refreshment, packaged drinking water, beverages, etc during games. Prices are higher than in the local market, and quality may be compromised due to high demand. Visitors should opt for branded food items during long games.
Accessibility Seating
