The stadium’s capacity is 8000, and for International cricket matches, it can accommodate over 17000 visitors with temporary arrangements in place. Bristol County Ground was established in 1889 and has undergone numerous renovations over the years. It has been the home ground of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club since its inception and is popularly known as Gloucestershire Cricket Stadium. It was also known as Ashley Down Ground before 1889. It is also used by the England national cricket team for their international games. It is mainly used to host international games of ODI and T20 formats. No international men’s test match has been played at this stadium to date.




The first international game at this Stadium was an ODI between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in 1983. This match was a part of the 1983 cricket World Cup. The first T20 International game at the Bristol County Ground in 2006 was between England and Pakistan. 3 games of the 2019 Cricket World Cup were also hosted at this Stadium; however, 2 games were abandoned due to bad weather. It is regularly used by the women’s England cricket team for their international games. It has hosted matches in all three International formats of women’s cricket.

The premium sections situated near the pavilion are the best areas to enjoy the cricket matches. It is generally reserved for the members and elite guests. The view is great with hospitality services and extra comfort. It is among the most expensive areas at the Bristol County Cricket Ground. Stands A, B, G, and F are some of the best areas to enjoy the cricket matches with a good view of the game. The mound stand is great for people who want to enjoy the atmosphere in a relaxing mood. Stand D is situated on the square and provides a wider view of the field, along with the placement of players in Bristol cricket stadium.




Voters are advised not to choose the last row and extreme corner seats in the Bristol Cricket Stadium due to poor view.

Parking is not available for general visitors during international and domestic cricket matches. On-site parking at the stadium is available only to blue badge holders and members. Accessible parking for blue badge holders must be booked in advance to get a secure spot. Multiple parking lots are situated around the stadium for general visitors. The roads leading to the stadium are generally restricted before the international games; therefore, supporters are advised to plan accordingly. Cycle racks are available at no cost at both entrances.




Visitors are advised to use public transport to arrive at the Bristol County Ground. It is served by two railway stations. Montpelier is operated by Great Western Railway and situated within a walking distance of 20 minutes from the stadium. It has regular services, while the other station is Ashley Down. Ashley Down has limited services and details, situated approximately 15 minutes’ walk away. Visitors are advised to check the timetable of both railway stations in advance. Multiple bus services are also available at the stop, which is situated just a 5-minute walk away. Bristol County Ground Bag Policy





Only a small bag containing essential items, not larger than A4, is allowed inside the stadium after the screening. A sling bag and a small wallet can also be taken inside the ground. Visitors are advised not to bring prohibited items and non-essential items while visiting the cricket stadium in Bristol. Storage facilities for non-essential and large bags are not situated at the venue. Visitors can check the list of items not provided on the ticket booking website and the Stadium website before booking tickets. Fans coming to the Bristol Stadium should prepare for airport-style screening at all entrances to the ground.
