After the second expansion, the stadium’s capacity increased to 68,600 guests. The stadium’s capacity was 83000 after the completion of the 2003 expansion plan. Some minor changes and facilities were added for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and the capacity was reduced to 81,264.

Small A4-size bags or smaller are allowed inside the stadium after inspection. Fanny bags can also be carried into Signal Iduna Park after security screening. Large bags are not allowed inside the stadium and there is no storage facility for them. Medical kits and diaper bags are allowed after the security clearance. Strict security protocols are followed at all entrances of Signal Iduna Park. X-ray machines and metal detectors are installed on the entry gates for security inspection.
